About a third of the cyclists I talked to at Darcy’s Tea Room, Compton, West Sussex, knew about the Jamboree.
And even better a Petersfield cycling club – Petersfield Bicycle Buddies is organising a ride to the event. Are you organising a ride to the event. I will list all the rides on this page Rides and fun on a bike
The view from Darcy’s Tea Room. Compton, West Sussex including this weekends bike
Why am I here? It’s the Compton Festival. A two day music festival with all sorts of genres of music.
A ladies and gents E-Ranger hybrid pedelec/EPACs have been added to the catalogue. They are hardly used and ready to ride away from the auction. These are legal road bikes which do not require a drivers license, tax, insurance or a helmet.
The electrical assistance apart from a possible startup assist feature requires you to be pedalling and the assistance stops when you get to 15.5 mph. When set to full power you will be able to maintain 15mph on the flat with the max power setting. You will feel the assistance going up hill but achieving 15mph will require higher level fitness and hill cadence. You speed is not restricted on descent and most riders will be comfortable upto 30mph.
Lower levels of power assistance will increase the range that the battery lasts for.

On Thursday, I rode through 20 riders exiting from the Café on the Green, Cheriton. They had come from Farnham. I forgot to ask which club. Enlighten me by commenting please. It’s only open on Thursday’s between 10 and 12.
I did a 180 on my 20kg Scott/Cytronex e-bike and announced the forthcoming Hampshire Cycle Jamboree. They happily took several of my leaflets. Surprisingly one of the group said “Where is the Flower Pots?”. “Around the corner.” said I. I do like easy questions!
On Friday I had long chat with a fellow e-biker outside the Coop in Alresford. He was riding a funky looking Giant with front panniers racks on a carbon fork. He had just returned from France, having ridden from Caen to Cherbourg in the country side, well behind the beaches.
Less serendipitous was the monthly Wednesday drink with the Alresford Pigs Association at the Swan Hotel. I agreed a short term plan of action with the Chairman. This gave us an excuse to visit the Flower Pots next week and walk the course with their Events Manager.
Joy the web site is working. A pair of hardly used E-Ranger Cruiser e-bikes are going to consigned to the auction. They will look something like this.
