A Jim Wilson Triathlon road bike and a Halfords Tricycle from first decade of 1900s are listed in the auction

One week to go, to the Jamboree. Forecast is Sunny and 21 degC!

It’s time for me to assign lot numbers, valuations and double check reserves, if requested. This will allow me to produce a downloadable PDF catalogue for you to download or print prior to the auction at 2pm on Saturday 26th September.

Except several of you have said “I have a bike (or a tandem) to sell in the auction” but you haven’t uploaded a description (3 lines max) or image (drive side of bike please)! Please do so today using the comment field on the auction page, so buyers can see what is going to be for sale on the day. Once your bike is approved for sale, you can add additional descriptions and more images. And it will get added to the catalogue.

Jumble (car boot) sellers please book your pitch by using the ticket panel on the Jumble page. I am about to reduce the 30 available pitches because several sellers have booked double or triple pitches!

The organisations I was hoping were going to set up stalls seem to be busy elsewhere: Freshers weeks, delivery of their children to university etc. There will definitely be Hampshire Cycles in the jumble area offering on the spot bike repairs and maybe services. I am expecting a display of Raleigh Choppers! Perhaps there will be a display of cycle cars (must phone John).

It’s going to be a great day. Hope to see you there.

They know about the Jamboree in West Sussex!

About a third of the cyclists I talked to at Darcy’s Tea Room, Compton, West Sussex, knew about the Jamboree.

And even better a Petersfield cycling club – Petersfield Bicycle Buddies is organising a ride to the event. Are you organising a ride to the event. I will list all the rides on this page Rides and fun on a bike

Why am I here? It’s the Compton Festival. A two day music festival with all sorts of genres of music.

What could you buy at the Cycle Jumble?

“Absolutely anything to do with bicycles.” is the simple answer. The other one is “You will only find out by coming on the day.”.

However one seller has shown me some of his stock:

Two hardly used e-bikes have been listed in the auction

A ladies and gents E-Ranger hybrid pedelec/EPACs have been added to the catalogue. They are hardly used and ready to ride away from the auction. These are legal road bikes which do not require a drivers license, tax, insurance or a helmet.

The electrical assistance apart from a possible startup assist feature requires you to be pedalling and the assistance stops when you get to 15.5 mph. When set to full power you will be able to maintain 15mph on the flat with the max power setting. You will feel the assistance going up hill but achieving 15mph will require higher level fitness and hill cadence. You speed is not restricted on descent and most riders will be comfortable upto 30mph.

Lower levels of power assistance will increase the range that the battery lasts for.

Serendipity Rules OK or bumping into potential attendees.

On Thursday, I rode through 20 riders exiting from the Café on the Green, Cheriton. They had come from Farnham. I forgot to ask which club. Enlighten me by commenting please. It’s only open on Thursday’s between 10 and 12.

I did a 180 on my 20kg Scott/Cytronex e-bike and announced the forthcoming Hampshire Cycle Jamboree. They happily took several of my leaflets. Surprisingly one of the group said “Where is the Flower Pots?”. “Around the corner.” said I. I do like easy questions!

On Friday I had long chat with a fellow e-biker outside the Coop in Alresford. He was riding a funky looking Giant with front panniers racks on a carbon fork. He had just returned from France, having ridden from Caen to Cherbourg in the country side, well behind the beaches.

Less serendipitous was the monthly Wednesday drink with the Alresford Pigs Association at the Swan Hotel. I agreed a short term plan of action with the Chairman. This gave us an excuse to visit the Flower Pots next week and walk the course with their Events Manager.

Joy the web site is working. A pair of hardly used E-Ranger Cruiser e-bikes are going to consigned to the auction. They will look something like this.

Auction Listings Improved

I have tidied up the way listings aka comments on the auction page are displayed.

The comment contain 4 headlines about the bike or other valuable item. You can attach multiple images to the comments.

The reply will contain the details about the lot. There is a “View Replies” button to open these on the bottom left of the comment.

You can post an item by adding a comment on this page and attaching images.

The admin will create a headline for your comment.

All the other information will then be shown in the reply section of the comment.

Your name will be replaced by Auctioneer. Your email address will remain hidden but part of the comment. Please stick to one email address it helps to produce a invoice for the sellers.

If you want to share the item, click the link icon top left to copy the URL to your clipboard.

I will enable more Social Media sites for sharing to shortly.

If you have a question about the item, please add a reply. This won’t be visible until its approved and the Auctioneer answers the question or not. The Auctioneer may reply to privately, if they unable to provide an answer that can be visible to all site visitors.

Now I have to find the bit of code I used on previous auction sites to change the standard Comments and Replies text to for instance Lot Summary and Details.
